Yoga Nidra, or “the sleep of the yogis” is an ancient practice that invokes relaxation at the physical, emotional and mental levels in order to clear away out-moded thought patterns and limiting behaviors.  Through the systematic practice of Yoga Nidra, witness consciousness arises and allows for true-seeing of one’s own being.   Profound relaxation encourages healing at the deepest levels, bringing about acceptance, freedom, awareness and joy.

YOGA FOR EMOTIONAL BALANCE:  supporting yourself in a stressful world

Our emotions are a reliable indicator when life has gone out of balance.  When you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, inexplicably tearful, limited or less-than-patient, your soul is begging you to withdraw from external distractions, look within and nurture yourself.  This workshop will focus on the benefits of breathing mindfully to create inner spaciousness, yoga to stretch, challenge, and hone your attention, and meditation to broaden your perspective.  When you nurture yourself, you nurture the world.

 

 

THE GATEWAY TO THE TRUE SELF:  Exploring the link between movement, breath and meditation   

Through mindful movement, intentional breathing, and focused mind, we will explore accessible techniques to let go into the magic of the present moment. 

Yogic Movement, or Asana, is the first of the eight limbs of classical yoga.  Mindful movement helps to release deep-seated tension to bring the body and mind into ease.  Yogic Breathing Techniques, or Pranayama, offers a powerful means towards directing and managing life force (prana) in addition to laying a foundation for awakening.  Intentional breathing removes numbness from the body by cleansing blocks in the system, providing a natural preparation for meditation.  Meditation, or Dyana, leads the student into the present moment from which the True Self can arise.  Through training the mind away from its vacillations, the student can pull aside the veils that conceal the deeper reality of who we truly are.  Meditation invites the student to turn an outward focus of "doing" to an inward focus of "being".  We will explore a few techniques to introduce the new meditation student and to deepen the experience of seasoned practitioners into the absorption of true presence.

In the yogic tradition, movement and breath clear the path for successful meditation.  This class accesses yoga postures to ease the body and calm the mind for successful meditation practice.  Develop witness consciousness to liberate your life.  Regular meditation practice decreases stress, increases self-knowledge, and builds confidence with life’s uncertainty and paradox.
